Two exceptional Australian pianists, Rose Riebl and Mirla, will take to the stage. Both will bring their own Neo classical sound to the evening.

Sofia Ilyas, Founder of FLOAT, returns to Melbourne for her 4th year to curate Piano Day on March 25th at Tempo Rubato.

Rose Riebl is a pianist and post-classical composer. Her work as a professional concert pianist has seen her perform throughout Australia, as well as tour through some of Asia’s leading concert halls.

Her compositional work extends her intimate relationship with the piano into a realm of more fragile, soulful and transcendent works that guide the listener into vulnerable emotional spaces. She has recently completed her second feature documentary, performs regularly and will be releasing her second LP Dust in 2024.

Emily ‘Mirla’ Harrison pianist, screen composer, neoclassical artist (performs and releases as Mirla). Mirla’s last appearance at Tempo Rubato (September 2023) was pure magic. The performance featured her debut album: Solitaire (The Virtue of Patience) (broadcast by ABC’s Classic Drive), a piece commissioned by the Hush Foundation and untitled new works.

For this Piano Day 2024 event, audiences will be transported on an immersive journey of solo piano, moving through fragile and poignant laments, rising to full-blown expressions of passion; by turns unnerving, yet always uplifting and defiant.
